Nice one Ben - how are you finding CodeIgniter? It certainly makes using PHP more fun, that's for sure.

Thanks for the comment Ben. I didn't run the code myself so didn't notice some of the issues you've encountered.

It certainly makes life harder, but your reports will no doubt be appreciated by the publisher and community of readers.

I am a beginner learning PHP on the codeigniter framework and was given this book to show me how to develop a site from scratch.

The book on the whole is very good. It guides you through step by step. Yes it has "easy to follow code examples" but these are not all right. For a beginner it is extremely frustrating to keep getting errors even though the code has been copied EXACTLY.

They do have an Errata section on their site which makes amendments for some code but not all! I am up to chapter 5 and have already submitted 8 errors which I have found.

The book is good for a developer with some existing knowledge of php/codeigniter.

If you are a beginner like me, I recommend downloading the completed code from the publisher’s site because you will need to compare it with the book when you get errors.
